Man Struck by Train in East Downtown Houston

According to some reports, it is not clear at this time whether or not the man was already dead when the train hit him.

 

February 9, 2019 – 4:50 pm: A man lying on the tracks was struck by a train in East Downtown. Some reports mention the possibility that the man was already dead when he was hit by the train. Regardless, police report that he was dead when they arrived on the scene.

The man was hit near the intersection of Sampson and McKinney streets on Saturday afternoon, according to officials.

Union Pacific Railroad police are currently investigating the event.

The man’s identity has not been made available at this time. If the man was dead before the train hit him, the cause of his death is not known at this time. Police have not commented on why they suspect the man may have been dead when he was hit by the train.

The driver of the train that hit the man has not been identified at this time. It is currently not clear whether or not the railroad will be held liable for the accident, which is still being investigated at this time.
