Investigators Seek Priest’s Journals in Sexual Abuse Case

According to news reports, investigators have a warrant to search for the journals of Father Manuel La Rosa-Lopez.

November 29, 2018 – 7:25 pm: Six victims have come forward with claims that Galveston-Houston Archdiocese priest Father Manuel La Rosa-Lopez committed sexual misconduct against them when they were minors.

Last Wednesday, investigators into the case received a warrant to search for the journals that La Rosa-Lopez wrote while he was in the Shalom Treatment Center.

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is believed to have possession of the journals, which may provide documentary evidence of the alleged sexual misconduct.

According to news reports, the church received complaints of La Rosa-Lopez’s alleged actions as early as October of 1992, when they investigated an incident between then-seminarian La Rosa-Lopez and a sixth-grade boy.

Other alleged victims include a 17-year-old boy in 1999, and a 16-year-old girl in 2000.

One attorney has conducted an investigation to see if the church had a duty to report the original 1992 incident to Child Protective Services.

At this time there is no word on whether the journals have been found, or of what the contents of the journals may be. The investigation into the allegations is ongoing at this time.
