Police also found 3 other victims injured in the explosion caused by a pocket of gas.

August 9, 2018 – 10:00 am: A Midland County home exploded Thursday morning, leading to the tragic death of 3-year-old Delaye Tercero on the afternoon of Saturday, August 11.

The explosion happened at East County Road 150, about half a mile from South County Road 1040. Police found four victims on the scene, all of whom were since hospitalized. In addition to the little girl who died, burn victims included Auden Tercero (32), Lucia Cereceres (29), and Dalayza Tercero (2).

Police investigated the cause of the blast, which totally destroyed the home. Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter summed up their initial findings: “Evidently a pocket of gas built up underneath the mobile home and got into the mobile home. It exploded causing the double-wide mobile home to be completely disintegrated.”

Painter reported that the blast was powerful enough that people up to 15 miles away felt the force of the explosion.

Anyone interested in helping this unfortunate family through this time can support them through their GoFundMe page. In the three days since the page was set up, the family has raised $42,092 of their $50,000 goal. Between the medical costs, the loss of their home, and the irreplaceable loss of a 3-year-old girl, any help would be greatly appreciated.
