August 15, 2018

Witnesses report that the man allegedly beat the children because he believed they’d broken his windshield wipers.

August 15, 2018 – 7:35 pm: On Wednesday when Raethon Patterson allegedly beat them with an extension cord. The incident took place on the 5900 block of Pincay Oaks Drive.

Patterson admitted to spanking seven children after he had arrived home and found them playing outside. The windshield wipers on his other vehicle were pulled up, so he thought the children had broken them.

At this point, Patterson took an extension cord and began spanking the children. They ranged in age from 2 to 12 years old, and some of them were injured in the incident.

The children’s grandmother called the police soon afterward. Patterson left the scene, forcing the police to set up a search perimeter to find him. Deputies from the Precinct One Constable’s Office found Patterson driving west on Gulf Bank in his white Ford F-150 pickup truck. He was taken in and admitted the whole incident to the police.

Patterson has since been charged with seven counts of injury with a child. Child Protective Services has taken charge of the case.
