4-Year-Old Girl Killed in Crash on I-10

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the girl was not in a child safety seat or seat belt.

May 22, 2019 – 6:30 am: A 4-year-old girl was killed in an accident involving a family car and an 18-wheeler on Wednesday morning. The girl’s father, 35, was seriously injured in the crash and has been hospitalized.

The accident took place on the westbound lanes of I-10, near Crosby Lynchburg Road. A truck reportedly slid into the car’s lane, forcing it into a guard rail, where it fell and landed on an embankment.

The girl was in the back seat of the car at the time of the crash, and was unrestrained when the accident took place. She was found under the car and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The father was seriously injured and has been taken to the hospital. He had to be cut out of the vehicle and flown to the hospital.

The girl’s mother, 24, was not injured in the accident.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Eduardo Rivera stated, “The mom, of course she is very distraught. She has church members here at the scene to console her, her husband is in the hospital.”

Investigation into the accident is ongoing.
