Driver Seriously Injured in Crash with Big Rig

According to Houston firefighters, the man had to be freed from his vehicle with heavy equipment after the crash.

May 9, 2019 – 12:50 pm: An unidentified driver was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital after receiving serious injuries in a crash with a big rig on Thursday afternoon. The driver of the big rig was not hurt in the accident.

The crash took place on the eastbound lanes of the East Freeway, near Jensen.

The driver of a small passenger car pulled across several lanes and ended up in front of the big rig, which was unable to avoid a collision. The man was pinned inside of the vehicle after the accident took place.

The man was seriously injured in the accident, but firefighters from the Houston Fire Department report that the man was talking to them while he was being loaded into the ambulance.

Eastbound East Freeway was closed down for about an hour at the site of the accident while firefighters worked on freeing the man from his vehicle.

The man’s identity has not been made available to the public at the present time. The crash is still under investigation at this time.
