News reports say that the accident took place in north Harris County when the bicycle pulled into a moving lane of traffic.

August 24, 2018 – 5:50 am: An unnamed bicyclist was killed in a crash Friday morning in North Harris County. The accident happened at West Mount Houston eastbound, near Ella Boulevard.

Harris County Sherriff Ed Gonzalez reports that investigators believe the cyclist entered a lane of traffic while the cars were moving, at which time he was hit by a car.

The man’s identity is unknown at this time, but he is believed to be somewhere between 30 and 40 years old.

The driver of the black car that hit the man stopped on the scene and was hit by another car. The driver of the car that hit the first car fled the scene before police arrived.

The force of the impact ripped the bicycle in half. It also punched a hole in the black car’s windshield, shattering it and seriously denting the top of the vehicle.

Eastbound West Mount Houston was down to only one lane for a time, and the accident caused heavy delays. Emergency vehicles even had one of the westbound lanes closed for a while.
