Bicyclist Killed in Crash with Dodge Charger

According to news reports, the unidentified man was pronounced dead on the scene after police arrived to investigate the accident.

November 1, 2018 – 4:35 pm: An unidentified bicyclist was killed after being hit by a black Dodge Charger on Thursday afternoon in Houston. The accident is being investigated by the Houston Police Department Vehicular Crimes Division.

The crash took place on the 6400 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

According to HPD spokespeople Sergeant F. Briones and Officer M. Mathews, the bicyclist was going westbound on Southlea when he turned onto Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Witnesses state that the bicyclist might have been startled by an oncoming vehicle travelling in the same lane he was in, causing him to turn suddenly.

The sudden turn without yielding put him in the path of the black Dodge Charger, which hit him and gave him the fatal injuries.

The Charger’s driver remained on the scene of the accident and cooperated with police. The driver was questioned, but released by the police shortly after talking to them.

The accident is still under investigation at this time. The dead man’s identity is expected to be verified by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences soon.
