9-Year-Old Child Killed by Cousin in Shooting Accident

According to news reports, the child was shot by a 9-year-old cousin while they were playing with a gun in an apartment.

 

January 16, 2019 – 5:00 pm: A nine-year-old boy was shot and killed by his nine-year-old cousin in a tragic shooting accident that took place in a Houston apartment on Wednesday afternoon.

The apartment is located on the 4000 block of West 34th Street. It is unclear at this time whether the victim, his cousin, or both live in the Houston apartment.

According to news reports, the boys found the gun lying around in the apartment and were playing with it when it went off. The boy received at least one gunshot wound to the arm and chest.

According to Houston Police Lt. Larry Crowson, the boy’s cousin will not be charged, and at this time it is unclear whether parents or guardians will face charges.

News reports indicate that the apartment where the accident took place was visited twice by Child Protective Services, once in 2014 and once in 2018.

The names of the children have not yet been released.
