Two Deputies Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash

According to news reports, one of the suspects in the hit-and-run has been tracked down and arrested.

 

January 25, 2019 – 5:00 pm: Two off-duty Harris County Deputies were injured on their motorcycles on Friday afternoon. According to the most recent reports, one of them is still in critical condition.

The crash happened near the intersection of Old Humble Road and Homestead in Harris County. Deputy Jeremy Thomas and Sgt. Chris Garza of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were leaving the funeral of Thomas’ father-in-law when the accident took place.

Nathan Robinson, 21, has been charged with failure to stop and render aid with serious bodily injury. He was driving a black sedan at the time of the crash, fleeing the scene of the accident on foot.

Deputies of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were able to track Robinson down as a result of a citation with his address on it, which had been left in the sedan. He is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.

One of the deputies injured in the crash was in critical condition when he arrived at the hospital, but has since stabilized. Deputy Thomas was released from the hospital on Saturday.

The crash is still under investigation.
