January 16, 2019 – 5:00 am: A suspected drunk driver hit a woman’s vehicle early Wednesday morning, injuring both of them when both vehicles burst into flames after the crash.

The crash took place on Denton Highway in Haltom City, a suburb northeast of Fort Worth.

Police were already pursuing the drunk driver in his pickup when the accident took place. The two vehicles crashed, leading to an explosion that completely engulfed the woman’s car. Both vehicles were left in a twisted mess, while both continued to burn.

Fortunately, police were already in the area and they were able to free the woman from the vehicle. She was taken to the hospital, where she remained as of Friday, with non-life-threatening injuries. Haltom City Sgt. Eric Peters stated, “It’s extremely dangerous because that vehicle could have exploded at any time.”

The alleged drunk driver was taken from the scene of the accident in handcuffs. He experienced multiple broken bones, but is expected to recover. He has not yet been charged with any criminal offense.

The accident is still under investigation at this time.
