October 10, 2018

According to news reports, the accident took place near an elementary school in Fort Bend County.

October 10, 2018 – 4:49 pm: A 7-year-old girl was hit by a school bus Wednesday afternoon in Fort Bend County. The girl has since been taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened at 16053 Mission Glen Drive, near Mission Bend Elementary School.

The bus that hit her was from Kids-R-Kids daycare, and the bus driver stopped at the location to meet with law enforcement who showed up to investigate. An ambulance arrived shortly later to take the girl to the hospital.

Neither the driver of the school bus nor the girl who was injured has been publicly identified at this time.

Fortunately, the girl’s injuries were not life-threatening. Pedestrian accidents can be very dangerous for the pedestrian, because pedestrians don’t have the protection of a metal vehicle and seat belt surrounding them.

In Texas last year, there were a total of 5,767 crashes involving pedestrians. Those crashes led to a total of 614 fatalities. In other words, more than one in ten pedestrian traffic accidents ends in someone’s death.

This accident is still under investigation at this time.
