Christmas Car Maintenance
Christmas is two weeks away. Most of us are budgeting for gifts and holiday travel. However, auto accidents are a part of life. Many are avoidable with proper car maintenance. Be sure that you have some extra funds available should your car need routine maintenance. Now is the perfect time to have maintenance performed to ensure that your holiday travel goes smoothly.
Stop by your local auto repair shop and request that the following maintenance procedures be performed, if necessary:
- Change the Oil—if your oil has not been changed at the recommended mileage, be sure this is performed before hitting the road so that your car can run as efficiently as possible.
- Check the Tires—have the mechanic check to see if your tires need to be rotated, or even replaced. The tread may be worn, which is a recipe for disaster on icy winter roads.
- Winterize Your Vehicle—many cars are not prepared for winter weather after the long summer. Ask the mechanic whether you need any maintenance that will help your car better perform in winter conditions.
Also ask the mechanic whether your car is due for any other routine maintenance before you take a long trip home for the holidays.
