Two Pedestrians Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident

According to news reports, one of the victims was seriously injured in the accident, while the other has already been released from the hospital.

 

February 9, 2019 – 10:30 pm: Pedro Ybarra, 54, and his daughter Larissa Ybarra, 23, were injured in an accident while crossing the street in San Marcos on Saturday night. Larissa Ybarra was released from the hospital with minor injuries, while Pedro Ybarra received severe head injuries and is currently in a medically-induced coma.

The accident took place at the intersection of North LBJ Drive and Hutchison Street in San Marcos.

The Ybarras were crossing the street along the crosswalk when they were hit by a maroon 2007-2010 Chevrolet Tahoe. Witnesses saw the vehicle flee the accident, heading north on North LBJ Drive, west on Hutchison Street, south on Guadalupe Street, and finally west on Hopkins Street.

Witnesses could not take down a license plate number for the vehicle.

Police say that Pedro Ybarra may experience permanent brain damage.

San Marcos police are searching for the vehicle and the driver who caused the accident. Anyone with any information is asked to contact SMPD Detective Travis Davidson at (512) 753-2315. The accident is still under investigation.
