Police Investigator Injured When Driver Runs Red Light

According to officials on the scene, the driver and passenger of the vehicle that hit the officer did not appear to suffer major injuries.

April 16, 2019 – 6:00 am: A Houston Police investigator received minor injuries while en route to a robbery on Tuesday morning. The officer was driving an unmarked car at the time of the crash, and appears to have been hit by a driver who ran a red light.

The accident took place at the intersection of South Main and South Loop while the investigator was on the way to NRG Stadium, according to Police.

The driver who hit the investigator was headed southbound on South Main when they ran a red light at the intersection. According to Police, the driver and passenger on the vehicle did not appear to experience major injuries. There did not appear to be any signs of intoxication on the part of the driver.

The investigator received minor injuries as a result of the accident, and the driver of the other vehicle received a ticket for running the red light. None of those involved in the crash have been publicly identified at this time. The crash is still under investigation.
