Pedestrian Killed in Odessa Crash

According to police reports, the woman was not at a cross walk when she was crossing the street at the time of the crash.

 

February 14, 2019 – 8:04 pm: Connie Suzanne Hughes was killed in a crash that took place in Odessa, Texas on Thursday night.

The accident took place on the 1100 block of 42nd Street.

Hughes was reportedly walking north across 42nd Street when she was struck by a Jeep Patriot that was headed eastbound. The driver of the Jeep has not been identified at this time. Hughes was pronounced dead on the scene after first responders arrived.

The driver of the Jeep was not injured in the accident. No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was injured in the crash.

Reports from Odessa Police state that Hughes was not crossing the street at a crosswalk when she was hit.

It is currently unknown why Hughes was crossing the street at that point, or whether the driver who hit her was in any way negligent. Police have not made any statements regarding the cause of the accident. Investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time, and police will release more information as it becomes available.
