Pedestrian Killed in Anderson County on Thursday Morning

According to preliminary reports, the man was walking in the southbound lane when he was hit and later pronounced dead at the scene.

 

December 6, 2018 – 5:45 am: Panayotis Asimakis Pavlis, 41, was killed while walking southbound in Anderson County this Thursday morning. The driver of the vehicle that hit him was Tami Lashon Sheppard, 42, of Grapeland, Texas.

The accident took place on US Highway 287, about five miles north of Elkhart. Pavlis was walking in the southbound lane at the time of the accident when Sheppard’s vehicle struck him. Sheppard was not injured in the crash.

Pavlis was not publicly identified until Thursday afternoon after his next of kin had been informed of the accident.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time. The Texas Department of Public Safety has not commented on why the man was walking on the highway, nor have they commented on who was at fault in the accident.

No charges or citations have been filed against Sheppard at this time, and there is no indication that any charges or citations will be filed.

The accident is still under investigation as of this time.
