One Man Killed in Austin Scooter Crash

According to news reports, the man was pronounced dead on the scene of the accident.

 

February 6, 2019 – 7:30 am: An unidentified man, believed to have been in his 20s, was killed in a scooter crash that took place in South Austin on Wednesday morning. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.

The accident took place at the intersection of Oltdorf and 6th Street in south Austin.

For unknown reasons, a motor scooter and an automobile collided in the intersection. The driver of the automobile was not injured in the crash, and his or her identity has not been released at this time.

According to a tweet issued by the Austin-Travis County EMS, the man on the scooter was pronounced dead on the scene. As of 8:25 am on Wednesday morning, ATCEMS also states that lane closures and delays should be expected in the area.

It is currently unclear who was at fault in the crash. The identity of the man who was killed and the driver of the vehicle that hit him are unknown at this time. It is unknown whether any charges will be filed in connection to the case. The accident is still being investigated.
