One Killed in Major Crash in Tyler

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at least one person was killed in the crash.

May 8, 2019 – 1:00 pm: At least one person was killed in a crash that took place on Wednesday in Tyler, Texas. The cause of the accident is still unknown at this time, and as of 2:16 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, traffic was backed up for about a mile from the site of the accident.

The crash took place on Toll 49, between State Highway 110 and County Road 46.

Two vehicles were burned in the crash, and the Texas Department of Public Safety states that at least one person was killed in the accident. Investigation is ongoing, so it is possible that there were other catastrophic injuries or loss of life in the accident.

Toll 49 was closed at the site of the accident, and drivers in the area have been advised to avoid the road at all costs. Drivers stuck on the road are advised to get off the roadway if possible.
