Construction Worker Dies After Falling Through Hole in Roof

According to news reports, the man fell through an opening intended for the air conditioning unit.

 

February 13, 2019 – 7:30 pm: A construction worker in his 20s died on Wednesday night after falling through a hole in the roof of a warehouse. According to authorities, the hole was intended to house the building’s air conditioning unit once construction was completed.

The warehouse under construction is located on the 1300 block of Rankin Road, near the Hardy Toll Road.

A three man work crew was working at the top of the warehouse when the worker fell. Reports state that the man fell 50 feet onto the ground, experiencing severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the fall.

The causes of the fall are currently unknown. According to news reports from Wednesday night, OSHA investigators were due to show up to inspect the site of the accident on Thursday.

The man’s identity has not been made public at this time, and the identities of the other workers on the scene have not been made public either. The investigation into this accident is ongoing, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
