Bicyclist Critically Injured by Suspected Drunk Driver

According to police, the bicyclist was wearing all black when he was hit from behind shortly after midnight on Monday.

April 1, 2019 – 12:30 am: A bicyclist has been hospitalized in critical condition after being hit by a car shortly after midnight on Monday in San Antonio.
The accident took place on the 1950 block of East Houston Street in San Antonio, near the intersection with North New Braunfels Road.

The bicyclist was a man in his late 20s or early 30s, according to police. He was reportedly riding a black bicycle and wearing all black when he was hit shortly after midnight. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center with a serious head injury.

The female driver of the small white sedan that hit the bicyclist is suspected of driving while impaired. Police report that the woman will be evaluated for a DWI.

Neither the bicyclist nor the woman in the sedan has been publicly identified at the present time. The exact cause of the accident is currently unknown, and police report that investigation into the crash is currently ongoing. More information will be made public as it comes to light.
